And So The Journey Begins.

Its hard to believe roughly three months ago Team Canada for offshore kayak fishing didn’t event exist! Let me back up a minute. Since 2022 through FIPS the international sportsfishing community launched internation offshore events for kayak anglers. Many nations jumped on board immediately, however with no formal platform in Canada we sat and watched with interest.
Roll it forward to Spring 2026. As Kayak Fishing in Canada is somewhat still in its infancy as we continue to grow our community there are lots of domestic opportunities and most events are related to Bass Fishing. For those of us on the West Coast, East Coast and Great Lakes this offered limited opportunity for us to follow our passions. So this is how it all started. A group of avid offshore / bigwater kayak anglers deciding it was time to put Canada on the World Stage.
Website up, sponsors and supporters on board and many other administrative pieces to the puzzle in place today marks the beginning of our journey to the first event under the Team Canada banner. The Nations Cup in Los Buzos Panama will put our Canadian Anglers directly against team USA. Unlike hockey we are the underdogs in this arena. However we are excited to bring down Canadian gear, Canadian Techniques and most important a team of Canadian Kayak Anglers to take on some of the worlds best.
This is also the first opportunity for many of us to meet in person. For those of us from the West Coast most of us have fished together before but our eastern colleagues have been only Zoom faces over the past months.
We are excited to wet our lines, rig up our kayaks and execute on our vision to put Canada on the world stage and build a program to keep us there for the long term, offering opportunities for others alike to jump on board and help us grow.
